The Creighton Prep Junior Jays are coming off a 30-7 victory over the Papillion-La Vista South Titans. The Jays will face the Benson Bunnies in their next matchup. Last week, the Bunnies lost to the Papillion-La Vista Monarchs, 62-21 and are winless on the year, owning an 0-6 record.

The Jays are on a roll recently. They have won two straight, both convincing wins. The Jays offense has been firing on all cylinders as of late. Last week, senior quarterback AJ Hubner threw for over 240 yards, while senior Nate Reiner was the team’s leading rusher, with just under 70 yards.

The Bunnies, however, have had trouble finding ways to score. They scored a season high 21 points last week, but it was not enough to beat the Monarchs, who scored 61 points. The Bunnies are lead by their senior quarterback Nick Dunn, who has thrown for a team high 476 passing yards on the year. Dunn will have to face the Jays stout defense this week, which has only allowed an average of 15 points per game this year.

Even though Prep is a heavy favorite tonight, tonight’s test will not be all sunshine and rainbows. The Jays have yet to win a road game this year, owning a 0-2 record away from home. The Junior Jays have had their fair share of injuries this year. Losing senior lineman Louis Violi to a torn PCL, they also had seniors Will Barton and Nate Reiner sustain injuries last week. Reiner received a concussion late in the game, while Barton suffered a strained MCL.  Reiner is out for tonight’s game.

Tonight’s game will prove the determination of the Jays. Winning their first road game will prove to be a huge boost to the morale of the team. The game is at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 7th, at Benson High School.
