Night in Greece a Night to Remember

On Saturday, October 1, hundreds of Prep students and their dates danced the night away in Ancient Greece.

The commons did not become the portal to the culture of Ancient Greece by itself, nor is it usually decorated so. The set-up was a lengthy process that required student council members dedicated to the task, headed by junior Ryan McNamara.

“Students gathered at 10 a.m. and set up until about 12:30 p.m. on the day of the dance,” said Jeff Dorr, the moderator of student council.

To construct the decorations, the student council collaborated with the students of the National Art Honor Society.

“Students chose a theme and created a plan of what they wanted the layout to look like. They then created a plan with the help of Ms. Godfrey and members of National Art Honor Society. Then, they identified what sorts of materials would be needed and went about ordering them,” said Dorr.

The excruciating set-up process proved to not be in vain, as students seemed to enjoy the festivities of not only the dance, but the week leading up to it as well. Dad day in particular was a popular choice for a theme day.

“Dad day was fun because it gave me an excuse to dress like I normally do,” said senior Andrew Emodi.

However, Homecoming was not without its faults.

“I just don’t agree with the rule about how long you have to stay,” said junior Joey Kaplan.

Some were even more scathing in their opinion on the length of the dance.

“It was fun, but Homecoming needs to give us more incentive to stay there, it is not fun enough to stay there for three hours,” said Emodi.

Regardless, many Prep students enjoyed their night in Greece.
