Yost Moves up the Ranks

One of Prep’s premier coaching talents, head football coach Andy Yost, is moving on. Yost accepted a job at Benedictine College to be running backs coach at the NAIA-level school. Formerly the head football coach for two seasons, Yost compiled a 14-8 record, leading the Junior Jays to the state semifinals in 2016.

Although it was difficult to move away Prep, Yost felt that one of the allures of the position was the opportunity to break into the college coaching ranks.

“It’s a new challenge and a new start. It’s just getting back into college football,” Yost said.

The move rings bittersweet for Yost, as he moves on from a position he has fond memories of.

“[My favorite memory] was probably coming back from down 28-3 to Burke during Easton Stick’s senior year. We came out in a rainstorm and we came back to beat them, which was pretty great,” Yost said.

Overall, Yost says he will miss Prep greatly and notes that it was an extremely difficult decision to make.

“I have a lot of friends here. I love the school, and it was a very tough decision to make. Either way I was going to leave a good job or turn down a good job,” said Yost.

Athletic Director Dan Schinzel said that interviews for head football coach will be conducted next week and that a successor could be named by the last week of March.
