Creighton Prep is getting a new head football coach by way of Tim Johnk. Formerly the Omaha Gross Catholic head coach, Johnk comes to Prep with 19 years of experience at Gross from 1992-1999 and from 2006 to 2016.

As a Nebraska native and a former running back for the Cornhuskers, Johnk has witnessed first-hand the traditions and excitement around Creighton Prep football, part of which motivated him to take the position.

“I think it is the best teaching/coaching job in the state of Nebraska.  I was motivated by the tradition of the school and the football program,” Johnk said. “ I have friends that have attended Creighton Prep and they have all spoke very highly of the school and the community.”

Creighton Prep Athletic Director Dan Schinzel felt that Johnk’s track record of success and familiarity with the program made him a perfect fit.

“He has a record of leading and building a program and he has worked in a Catholic school environment,” Schinzel said. “He understands Jesuit education and has a vast amount of experience.”

Johnk will be joining Prep in the physical education department to teach P.E. in addition to his coaching duties, and he feels excited to begin on both fronts.

“I am looking forward to leading a new group of young men.  I am looking forward to making a difference in their lives both on and off the field,” Johnk said. “I can’t wait to get on the practice field with my new team!  I am really excited to get to work.”
