BASH

After another successful BASH, numbers are rolling in exactly where they should be for the school to reach their goal. This year, a record number of raffle tickets were sold and many sponsors donated money, all in order to help students afford Prep.

With 659 guest showing up on the night of BASH, it is a large event that considerable thought and preparation go into. The Havana theme went over well with the crowd, as many came dressed in the theme.

“I thought the decorations were really incredible, it just all went together. I felt like I was walking into Cuba or an old Havana place. It didn’t feel like a gym at all,” said Taylor Stormberg, a member of the BASH committee.

Although much of the fundraising comes from raffle tickets, straight-up donations are also relied upon. The BASH committee was able to raise about $134,000 off of such donations.

“The generosity of our parents, our students, our alumni, our former parents, who continue to come back and support the event. We have a really great constituent base of caring people that care about Prep, care about the students and want to try and make it affordable for students to go here,” said Amy Knight,

About $210,000 were made in raffle tickets, as the BASH Committee worked to revamp the incentive to sell tickets for the students.

“I thought the raffle as a whole went really well this year, we hit a new record high for that. So that was awesome,” said Stormberg.

One of the struggles this year was to get student volunteers, due to various conflicts, including Marian’s Prom.

“We had 213 student volunteers and 91 adult volunteers. So, pretty ballpark figure for years past,” said Knight.

Lead by Knight, BASH once again served as the biggest donation event for Prep. With her hand-selected group of fellow organizers and planners, they were able to set records and get the donation money that Prep needed this year.

“I thought the night couldn’t have gone better,” said Stormberg.
