REVIEW: Fortnite Battle Royale, Game of the Year?

Fortnite is a free download, compatible with the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh systems. It is a popular game that was introduced in July, 2017, but really went mainstream later in September. Epic Games, the creators of Fortnite, are also known for creating the “Gears of War” and “Infinity Blade” series. Fortnite can be described as a sandbox survival game in which you drop out of a bus, parachute to a location, and collect loot from chests positioned throughout the map. From there you work your way into a “storm eye” and try to eliminate other players with the loot you have. Along with eliminating enemies, you can also collect resources and build massive bases or forts to defend yourself from other enemy players.

Not everyone gets the same items to use in a game; it is all randomly decided each individual game. This is one of the main reasons I love this game, as the random item loadout aspect makes it more difficult yet more fair to all players. The weapons are different colors depending on how rare and effective they are. The colors, ranging from worst to best; gray, green, blue, purple, and gold. Another aspect of the game that stands out is the effort put into the graphics and gameplay. Everything is spot-on from the bushes on the map to the people dancing. The developers really put time and effort that could be put into a paid game, yet it is still free to play.

At the moment Fortnite is my favorite game to play and a great way to pass time. As a fan favorite and a free download, I recommend trying this game out and going for your very own victory royale.
