On Wednesday, February 6th, senior outside linebacker John Bullock signed his National Letter of Intent to play with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Bullock was a star for the Creighton Prep defense this season, which earned him a spot on the All-Metro Conference First Team.

Bullock had plenty of interest from other schools, including South Dakota St., South Dakota, Tulsa, Iowa St. and Iowa, but in the end he felt Nebraska was the right choice.

“I visited [Lincoln] for a home game versus Michigan St. where a lot of coaches that I didn’t even really know started talking to me a lot and I started to get a really good connection between them and they accepted me like I was already part of their family,” Bullock said. “I went to a walk-on dinner event also where I started talking with a lot of the players already on the team and a lot of players coming in that will be my teammates and we all really bonded together.”
When a kid grows up in Nebraska, it is likely that the Cornhuskers will be their favorite team, and that was true with Bullock.

“My family has always been really big Husker fans and so have I ever since I started watching football,” Bullock said. “My parents liked the school as much as I did and really wanted me to go there.”

Bullock didn’t have much interest from programs prior to his senior season, but after a stellar game against Omaha North, coaches started to take notice.

“At the end of my junior year I started to get letters but nothing big, but after the first week of our season South Dakota St. started to contact me and a lot of schools started to show interest as the year went on,” Bullock said.

Bullock had a great a group of support helping him make his decision, which made him sure that Nebraska was the right choice.

“My coaches and family helped me a lot with my decision and my friends did a little too which really helped me out,” Bullock said.

Bullock is very happy with his choice and is excited to see what the future holds for him.

“I’m excited about creating new friends and a family with my teammates and being part of a really cool tradition down there,” Bullock said. “Hopefully I can make the team better and get it back to what it used to be.”
