Creighton Prep football is off to a hot start. After a 38-3 victory over rival Westside, the Junior Jays are looking to continue their dominance over Burke. Last week, Burke beat Central 38-0, and are currently ranked one spot ahead of Prep.

Senior running back Nate Reiner said, “rankings don’t mean anything in high school football, anybody can beat anybody.”

Burke Head Football Coach Paul Limongi said he felt great after the win, but the Bulldogs need to turn around and focus on this weekends game. One the biggest factors of this week’s game, is home field advantage. Prep is notorious for considering ‘Burke Stadium’ their home field.

Senior defensive star Will Krolikowsi said, “winning home field advantage is great.”

This week’s game is looking to be one of the most important of the early season, with both teams vying to keep up the momentum they built up in week one. Both teams seem to be very balanced, with explosive offensives, and tough defensives.

Limongi said, “Prep is a very well balanced and skilled opponent that has great size and ability.”

On Friday, September 2, the teams will butt heads and show the city who can keep up their hot start. Expect a hardly fought game-of-the-year contender between two fundamentally sound teams.
