After a 3rd place finish in the state tournament last year, Creighton Prep golf is ready to come back strong. New head coach, Matt Rasgorshek, is excited to see what the team can do. Rasgorshek and the team are setting high goals for this season.

Rasgorshek had to look at each players’ swing and scores carefully this year. Rasgorshek said he looked at three major things during tyrouts: how they scored, their overall potential, and how their grades looked. The team is already become comfortable with their new head coach.
“I like the way [Rasgorshek] is doing everything, it seems a lot more inclusive of everybody and it seems like he knows what he is doing,”senior Jackson Hayes said.
One thing Rasgorshek wants to strengthen this year, are the team’s connections. After most practices, the team will often get food, and they have dinners before tournaments.
“We are working on that team mentality, where if you are having a bad day, then your teammates pick you up, and if one of your teammates are having a bad day, then it’s your job to pick them up,” Rasgorshek said.
The team this year is very well rounded. With strong freshman, like Jack Truscott, and Josh Kramer; to junior and senior leaders, like Ben Hourigan, George Farner, Mitch Neujahr, Elliot Landers, and Jackson Hayes.
“In the past, Prep has had those 1 or 2 dominant players, who carry the team. So, we are going to work on more team mentality this year, because we’ve gotta pick each other up,” said Rasgorshek.
Thanks to Rasgorshek, the team this year has been extremely close. The team is ready to take it all the way to state this year.
“Everyone is playing pretty solid, I think it should be a good year,” Hayes said.
