In 2017, Creighton Prep will have a brand-new turf baseball field. The groundbreaking event was held in the Heider center on Friday, August 19.

Synthetic Turf changes baseball in many ways. Prep has had problems with the field for years. Third base is infamous for bad hops and ruining kids dreams.

Junior Dylan Phillips said, “with turf, there are less bad hops so our defensive will get better.”

With turf, the condition of the field will never change. Players will not need to cover the pitching mound and home plate with a tarp anymore. Coaches will not have to paint the foul ball lines, as well as not having to rake the infield dirt anymore. Players will no longer be hindered by weather, as they can play in any weather, besides lightning.
